As I was preparing for Christmas these last couple of weeks, I was reminded of a fond memory. Unlike most of us, my oldest daughter Lyndzee does not like surprises and has never been willing to wait to see what she got for Christmas.
Since she was little, Lyndzee would search our house and look for the presents marked with her name. Then she would carefully peel the wrapping back just enough to see what was inside. Once we discovered what was happening my wife and I had to resort to labeling her presents with the names of her brothers and sisters. This provided many hilarious moments on Christmas morning when Lyndzee would be truly surprised as she watched her siblings unwrap “her present’s” until she finally received her real presents.
During the holidays we generally enjoy being pleasantly surprised when we receive a gift. We love the excitement and the thrill of unwrapping a present and discovering what’s inside. However, when it comes to sales, no one likes surprises.
In a perfect world, we want to know well in advance, what our sales and marketing efforts will produce.
